Chakras

Introduction to Chakras

Whether you’ve done meditation, had a yoga class, or studied spirituality in any form you’ve at least heard the word chakra. What the heck is a chakra exactly and why should we even care to know? Even though I’m an extremely open-minded person, have always been connected, and even studied energy healing I thought the same thing at one time…then I started feeling them.

The best way for me to introduce chakras to you is to start at the beginning, the root of what they are. The word “chakra” from Sanskrit translates to “wheel” or “disk,” but references a spiritual energy center within the human body, of which there are seven along the spine, through the neck, the area right above the center of your eyes (third eye), and the crown of your head. The chakra system originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC in the oldest text called the Vedas. The Vedas are the earliest Sanskrit literary records and the most ancient scriptures of Hinduism.

The seven chakras are the main energy centers of the body. Each chakra corresponds to a specific organ as well as physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual states of being and influence all areas of your life. Within these chakras is ‘prana,’ or the ultimate pure healing energy, that’s all around us and within us, to keep us healthy, happy and vibrant. The seven main charkas are the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown.

I’ll be going into more detail over the next seven weeks explaining each chakra and what they do for us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, how to know if they’re blocked, steps to  unblock the them, and fun extras like essential oils, colors, and crystals connected to each chakra. Stay tuned!!!
